Welcome to All About Guns! It is my sincere hope that visitors to this site find it useful and in some cases, it fills a gap in their knowledge about firearms and shooting. The world of firearms is vast and it would take several lifetimes to absorb just a portion of the knowledge currently extant. Fortunately, for those of us living in the United States of America, guns and their lawful use are still a right possessed by the citizens of this great land, although there have been numerous efforts to restrict or abolish that right. Some of those efforts date back to the beginnings of this great nation when our Founding Fathers fought against British tyranny. We are still struggling to affirm the right to keep and bear arms as illustrated by the recent decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Heller vs. D.C. and it is not likely to end anytime soon. If you haven’t done so already, join the NRA and other like-minded organizations. Let your voice be heard, especially at the ballot box because if you don’t take a stand now, your cherished right may be a memory.

Whatever the level of interest, tyro or expert, there will be something of interest. My initial emphasis will be on the older guns, especially some of the less common ones, although new guns that could be considered “modern day classics” will be covered too. If it has anything to do with rifles, shotguns, pistols, revolvers, ammunition, reloading or ballistics it will eventually be here. Let me know what you like (or don’t like) about my modest efforts and if there is anything I could do to improve on it. If there’s something you want to know more about, let me know. You may find it published here at some point. Till then, keep your powder dry! – John Swikart
