Yoke -- The part of a swing-out revolver that the cylinder assembly is attached to. On most swing-out cylinder revolvers, the yoke is a steel part that is shaped similarly to the bracket symbol used in mathematical equations. The lower leg is inserted into the lower front part of the frame while the upper leg is inserted into the front of the cylinder assembly. The upper leg of the yoke normally has a hole in it that the ejector rod passes through and on some revolvers like the Ruger Redhawk or Smith & Wesson Triple-Lock, there is a locking device built into the upper leg of the yoke which creates a more solid lockup when the cylinder is closed.-- February 3, 2015*
